WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A Marathon County jury has acquitted a Wausau man following a daylong trial on charges he beat another man with brass knuckles during a bar brawl last year.
Jurors deliberated for two hours last night before finding Ronmel Ferguson not guilty on a felony charge of substantial battery and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. The jury returned its verdict around 10:15 p.m.
Ferguson was accused of punching Ralph Bell as Ferguson walked away from a fight at the Paradox Bar on May 20th. Ferguson testified in his own defense yesterday. According to court documents, he had said he fought back in self defense.
