WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A former co-worker whom murder suspect Raul Ponce-Rocha said he ran into the day of Breanna Schneller's homicide testified Thursday before prosecutors rested their rebuttal case.
Sergio Juarez told jurors that he never saw Schneller the day of her death nor did he meet up with Ponce-Rocha in Schneller's apartment.
"I wasn't there," Juarez said through an interpreter.
Juarez said he left Wausau about 9 or 9:30 the morning of the murder to go to Madison to finalize a tax return. He said he spent about an hour at the tax office before going to a toy store and driving back to Wausau.
Juarez was unavailable to testify Wednesday. He told jurors he was in Mexico as recently as Monday and came back to Wisconsin to "create a record and clear everything up." He arrived late Wednesday and met with prosecutors before testifying Thursday morning.
"I don't know how I got involved in all this," Juarez testified.
Juarez's brother, Jorge, corroborated Sergio's story
