WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – The Wausau school board will start to identify potential budget cuts tonight.
The board will hold a roundtable finance and budget discussion with administrators, including building principals, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Franklin Elementary school.
The district has not identified exactly how much it needs to cut yet, said board president Michelle Schaefer. She said the discussion will help administrators figure out where cuts could be made.
“It really is going to be a free flowing discussion between administration and the board,” Schaefer said.
Schaefer described potential cuts as a “stopgap” measure until the district holds a series of meetings over three days this spring to help guide future budget planning.
