WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A 22-year-old sex offender convicted separately of forcing two underage girls to have sex with him will be released in Wausau tomorrow.
Chris Bungert will live in transitional housing near the Marathon County courthouse. He will be subject to GPS monitoring. The state corrections department has put him on a highly restricted schedule and will limit his time out in the community for work and treatment.
Bungert was convicted in 2006 on three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault for forcing a 16-year-old girl to have sex. He was sentenced to two-and-a-half years probation.
A judge revoked the probation in May 2007 after a 17-year-old girl whom Bungert dated claimed that he forced her to have sex.
Bungert was sentenced to four years in prison and 10 years on extended supervision. He had already spent more than a year behind bars when he was sentenced.
