WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – UW-Marathon County in Wausau is hoping to offer some competition in the online education market with a new offering to adult students.
It's called MyTrack, and Adult Student Coordinator Jim Rosenberg says it's something that's been in the works for a while. “We're offering compressed courses online, much like other places, but you'll be getting those credits from a state university.”
Rosenberg says people without a college degree really need to look into applying, since a high-school diploma really doesn't cut it in today's job market. “Most places are looking for degrees of some sort, and it takes something along the lines of an associate's diploma to get a median income.”
MyTrack classes will mostly be offered in the general education portion of most people's degree requirements, but with online courses already offered at the college, you can get half of your bachelor’s degree requirements in more than 16 different major programs offered on the campus. There are three bachelor degrees you can complete entirely in Wausau, including Business Administration, Engineering and American Studies.
