WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau firefighters are about to get a new contract with the city. They've been without an agreement since the start of the year.
Their contract was held up because city leaders weren't sure if the state's collective bargaining rules would change.
Yesterday the Human Resources Committee approved a one-year agreement with a 1.75-percent pay raise retroactive to January. Firefighters would also get additional holiday pay.
The contract still needs final approval from the full City Council, and would need to be ratified by the firefighters' union.
