WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau city leaders are looking for ideas to develop another 16-acres of land along the Wisconsin River. A group of urban planning students from UW-Milwaukee will be in town today to see the property and to brainstorm ideas.
They'll meet with city officials this afternoon, and will come back with proposals for the land later this summer.
Wausau purchased the land for $2-million. It's the area between Bridge Street and the railroad bridge just north of downtown. Some of the land may be re-developed. Others may be open for public use.
Any proposal would still need zoning and city council approval.
