WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Governor Walker made a brief stop at the airport in Wausau yesterday, part of a four-city fly-in tour that included Eau Claire, Green Bay, and Madison.
Walker again called on 14 democratic state senators to return from Illinois.
Walker said the cuts in his state budget are necessary because of the state's projected $3.6-billion shortfall. And he said he won't back down from the union collective bargaining changes in his budget repair bill; saying school districts and towns will need the flexibility to deal with less state aid.
A group of union protesters were kept off the airport grounds. They yelled "union busting is disgusting" from outside the main gate.
