WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Governor Scott Walker will visit Wausau today as the state assembly moved towards final passage of parts of his budget repair bill. The assembly goes into session at 11am. The Governor will speak at the Wausau airport at noon.
Tea Party members in Central Wisconsin received advanced notice of the Governor's visit yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon the Governor met with fellow republicans to discuss strategy for the budget repair bill. There was talk of a compromise where democrats would return to the capital and vote on the repair bill as-is, and then negotiate changes in the two-year budget. When that deal fell through, the Governor supported the current measure, stripping out financial parts of the budget repair bill and voting on the collective bargaining changes.
