WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau city leaders say they've reached an agreement with the local transit union to keep bus service running after the new state budget repair bill becomes law. The union agreed to contribute 12-percent of health care costs, and limit wage increases to inflation.
There were concerns that the state could lose federal transit aid if bus drivers lost the right to collective bargaining. That federal funding would have run out in May.
The Metro-Ride bus service gets about $1.4-million in federal funding, and another $400,000 from the state -- making up about half the total cost for the bus service.
