WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Governor Scott Walker was in Wausau yesterday. He made a brief appearance at Piper Products to speak with workers about his budget proposal.
Walker emphasized that his proposed $900-million cut in school aid could be offset if school districts take advantage of new collective bargaining rules. Walker also criticized districts that were scrambling to pass new contracts before the changes take effect.
There were also anti-Walker demonstrators outside. About 20 people held signs that said "shame" and "recall" -- and they tried to follow the Governor's car after he left and headed back to the airport.
Walker says he takes the threat of a recall seriously. Walker isn't eligible to be recalled until January 2012, but there are multiple recall efforts among republicans and democrats underway in the state senate.
