WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A 23 year old Wausau woman is under arrest today after telling police she was hallucinating from meth use while caring for her infant son.
Offiers were called out to the 11 hundred block of West Bridge Street last night to respond to a report of a woman running around outside with a baby. When they arrived they found Kassandra Kasten with her 10 month old infant. She told officers at the scene she had been using meth and could not remember anything from the last few hours.
Both Kasten and her child were taken to the hospital for a health check. The baby was not injured, and is now in the custody of a family member. Kasten was brought to jail on child neglect charges. Her initial appearance today was pushed back to Friday.
Kasten’s sister Jessica was convicted in a 2007 child neglect case where her son died while she slept off an 18-hour meth high. Jessica Kasten is currently serving a 7 sentence on those charges.
