WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Residents on Wausau’s west side have a new City Council member.
The Council voted 10-0 to appoint Karen Kellbach to a vacancy in the 8th district created when Chris Barr resigned in January. The district generally runs west of the Wisconsin River and north of Bridge Street. Kellbach plans to run for election next year.
Kellbach is a veteran of the Council, having represented the same district from 2000 to 2006. She has represented that part of the city on the Marathon County board since 2004.
“My record shows I have a proven commitment to public service,” she said. “I believe my experience and insight will be an additional asset to the City Council during these uncertain times.”
The 57-year-old Kellbach is the accounting and records supervisor for First United Methodist Church.
A 20-year-old freshman at UW-Marathon County, Matthew Trimborn, had also applied for the seat.
