UNDATED (WSAU) The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will return to Wausau for a second year this summer.
The initial 5-K race was held last August. Organizers nearly doubled their $100,000 fundraising goal. Grant money for the event went to breast cancer research. Money also went towards cancer-screening initiative at Wausau-Aspirus Hospital and Marshfield Clinic.
Organizers say this summer's race will be August 21st. This year they hope the event will grow. The goal is to attract 4,000 runners, and raise more than $400,000. Registration will begin next month.
