WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Governor Scott Walker made an unannounced visit to Wausau on Saturday. Protesters got wind of it and lined 17th Avenue as the Governor's motorcade sped by.
The Governor was in town to speak to snowmobile convention at the Plaza Hotel. Hotel management says the governor left through a back door in an unmarked car to avoid demonstrators outside.
Walker has made a series of visits around the state with almost no advance notice to the public or to local media, making it more difficult for protesters to plan organized events.
Saturday morning's visit to Wausau was the Governor's first public appearance since the Legislative Reference Bureau tried to publish the new union collective bargaining rules. That action will likely be challenged in court.
