Two dead in crash of small plane in North Carolina

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Two people were killed on Wednesday when a small plane crashed into a home in North Carolina, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the twin-engine BE 58, registered to a company called Aerologistics, crashed at about 5:55 p.m. Eastern time as it approached Greensboro, killing both people on board.

She said the flight had been on its way from Wilmington to Winston-Salem when it was diverted to Greensboro.

She said local authorities on the ground had told the FAA that no one in the house was injured and had confirmed the two deaths.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
