WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Governor Scott Walker was in Wausau on Friday speaking to the annual Wisconsin Conservation Congress convention. 360 delegates from around the state heard Walker defend his plan to restructure the DNR. He says the agency needs to be more accountable and efficient and can still protect the land and water of Wisconsin.
Walker's plan has come under criticism from some who believe it protects business and development groups instead of the natural resources of the state. The plan includes the speeding up and streamlining of the permitting process form development permits impacting the environment.
The convention of the Congress continues this weekend at the Plaza Hotel & Suites.
