WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau is hiring a human resources director.
The city posted for the position this spring and has received some applications. Mayor Jim Tipple has yet to review them and put together a committee to interview and select a candidate. The hire does not require City Council approval.
“Our need is right now,” Tipple said, adding that he would like to make the hire in a month. “If there isn't qualified applicants, we may re-post the job or we may go in a different direction.”
The city has been without a human resources director since 2008 when Bill Nagle retired. Plans to share human resources with Marathon County fell through last year when both sides could not agree on terms that include whether the city could retain two HR staffers on its payroll.
Whoever fills the part-time position would be responsible for hiring and firing employees along with developing personnel guidelines and administering benefits. The full-time salary for the job is between $65,000 and $92,000 a year though the part-time salary and benefits would be pro-rated.
