WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A Wausau man will stand trial for robbing two area bars in the last month.

Mariano Valera waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday morning.

The 25-year-old has admitted holding up the owner of Cliffhangers Bar at knifepoint October 3rd. He also admitted holding up Piggy's Pub in Marathon on November 2nd.

Valera has yet to be arraigned on the charges. His arraignment will be scheduled during a hearing later this month.

Police have also linked Valera to an attempted robbery of two people in the parking lot outside the Wendy's restaurant in Rib Mountain though he has not been formally charged in that crime.
