WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau's city council has approved a business development agreement with Kocourek to open a new car dealership.
City council members approved the measure unanimously last night. The city would be offering up to 200-thousand dollars in income tax rebates to the business in return for the start of construction.
The new property is across the street from their Ford dealership on the city's north side and would house a Nissan and KIA dealership. It's also part of a newly created TIF district, and would generate additional revenue for the city. Preliminary numbers for the project would put its value at somewhere around $4.7 million dollars and bring in 30 to 35 new jobs.
Community development director Anne Werth says it's a boon to the community. “We always want to help out new businesses in the area, and are happy to see this property be put to use.”
Construction on the project is expected to start immediately, with a number of backfill operations that need to take place before the soft earth of the site can be put to use for construction.
