WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Routes C and K, Saturday Service and the 6 am run are all off the budget for next year's service under a proposed budget for Metro Ride.
Wausau's transit commission approved those cuts at their meeting today. Transit director Greg Seubert also announced that there will need to be a fare increase next year as well to cover continuing losses in revenue from the state. “That rate increase will be 20 to 25 percent” The standard adult rate would go up to $1.50 for a ride.
Seubert says Wausau is the only remaining municipality in the Metro Ride service, so the budget had to be adjusted to fit inside of Wausau's transit funding for next year. Any proposed rate increase will have to go to public meeting, and the transit commission will be at Wausau City Hall for a special meeting for that December 1st.
