ELY, Minn (WSAU) Firefighters are making slow, steady progress towards containing a large wildfire in northern Minnesota. The fire is 11-percent contained. It's the same fire that sent foul-smelling smoke across Wisconsin last week, prompting air-quality advisories. It's burned more than 147-square miles.
More than 560 firefighters are working near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area near Ely. They were helped by the weather yesterday, with scattered rain showers slowing down the spread of the fire.
There's a chance of more rain in the area tonight and tomorrow, which may help firefighters set up new containment lines.
