WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – We now know what started a house fire on Wausau’s west side Friday afternoon.

According to police, it appears a 9-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl started the fire while they were playing with a lighter.

No one was hurt in the blaze on the 400 block of North 5th Avenue.

A fire battalion chief told the Wausau Daily Herald that there was fire damage in a bedroom and smoke damage to the rest of the second floor.
