Former attorney general fails to win school board seat

FOND du LAC, Wis (WSAU) Former state Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager failed yesterday to win a School Board seat in her home town of Fond du Lac. Incumbents Eric Everson and Susan Jones were re-elected, defeating Lautenschlager and Will Jewson for the two board seats.

Lautenschlager had 4714 votes, and lost by 225 votes to second-place Jones.

Lautenschlager is a former state representative who ran the Justice Department from 2003-through-’06.

She was surprised to do as well as she did, saying there was still backlash from her 2004 conviction for driving drunk in a state car – as well as her involvement with the effort to recall Governor Scott Walker.
