WEST ALLIS, WI (WTAQ) - A woman and her 22-year-old son were both killed in separate traffic accidents in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis.
Police said 45-year-old Mary Moore was lying in a roadway when she was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Four-and-a-half-hours later, Moore’s son Thomas Olson was killed while speeding to a hospital to check on his mother. Police said Olson was a passenger in a car that hit 3 parked vehicles while making a turn. The car then rolled over.
The driver and two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and police said the driver was arrested for OWI.
Police said Olson and the others had just learned about his mother when they sped to the hospital. Investigators said alcohol was also suspected in the crash that killed Mary Moore.
Police said they were not sure why Moore was lying in the roadway – but officers later arrested the suspected hit-and-run driver for leaving the scene.
