MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Authorities believe they’ve solved a series of Wood County car thefts. Sheriff’s Department investigator Cory Leigh says six vehicles were taken in the Town of Richfield and the Village of Hewitt at around 2:00 a.m. today. Marshfield Police located and pursued one of the stolen vehicles. One suspect was apprehended after the chase ended in the Town of Rock. This teen unsuccessfully tried eluding officers by driving through a hay field.
State Patrol and Clark County deputies caught up another vehicle traveling with the first suspect In the Town of Lynn, and apprehended the other suspect.
Seventeen-year-old Devon Hookstadt of Babcock is in custody. A sixteen-year-old suspect is also in custody. His name cannot be released. Investigator Leigh believes the teens may also be involved in additional car thefts that took place Thursday.
