Writer/artist Dan Parent recently met Takei at a fan convention and approached him about the possibility of starring in an issue, and the actor happily agreed.

Takei signed up for the appearance in the publication, about a gay teenager in the fictional town of Riverdale, to assist young fans who may be struggling with their sexuality like he once did.

He tells the Associated Press, ""I remember as a preteen and a teenager, I used to read Archie Comics. I was so flattered... With Archie Comics, it's a fun way and a natural way and an ideal way of advocating happily.""

The equal rights advocate's No. 6 issue is set to hit U.S. news stands on Wednesday (05Dec12).
