WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) The largest curling center in the U.S. is now open in Wausau. They held their first rookie clinic with more than 100 people attending -- double the number from past years.

The Wausau Curling Center cost $4.2-million, and was funding with private money raised by the Wausau Curling Club. Construction delays pushed the opening back a week.

Club play and school practice begins this week.

The new curling center will host U.S. and international curling events in the future, and should be a driver of tourism and economic activity for Central Wisconsin.
