GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ defensive back Charles Woodson was ready to practice yesterday. But he was held out at the last minute, and coach Mike McCarthy says Woodson will not play on Sunday against the Bears in Chicago.
Woodson is trying to get over a broken collarbone suffered two months ago. And team doctor Patrick McKenzie did not believe that Woodson was ready to play yet. McCarthy said he decided to sit out the veteran defender, based on information he received over the past couple of days.
Receiver Jordy Nelson is also expected to miss the Bears’ game with a bad hamstring. Corner Davon House did not take part in yesterday’s workout due to illness. Linebacker Clay Matthews practiced for the first time since early November after hurting a hamstring. And defensive end Mike Neal returned to practice, after hurting a shoulder a week-and-a-half ago.
