MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) Marshfield Common Council is moving ahead with plans for installing new state-of-the-art utility meters in the city.
By “Consent Agenda” vote at Tuesday night’s meeting, the Council approved $215,000 to be spent on the first phase of the meter replacement project.Both water and electric meters will be replaced. The new meters will operate using radio frequency technology, and facilitate the early discovery of leaks while saving on manpower.
The project is expected to cost Marshfield Utilities a total of around $2.4 million dollars, and it will take about 3 years to fully install the meters throughout the city.
