MERRILL, Wis (WSAU)  Merrill will bring back its annual winterfest celebration. It used to be an annual winter event, which was discontinued in 2003. The Parks and Rec Department has decided to bring it back this February 2nd and 3rd.

That's the weekend that the Custom Design Cool Running Sled Dog races are already scheduled in the area. The city will piggy-back on that event by adding a snow sculpture contest, open ice skating, and a volleyball tournament.

Winterfest events will take place at various locations around town. The sled dog races are scheduled along Highway 64.
