Woodson A No-Go For Sunday

GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Packers’ defensive ends C-J Wilson and Jerel Worthy returned to practice yesterday, as Green Bay gets ready for its regular season finale on Sunday at Minnesota.

The Packers missed both Wilson and linebacker Clay Matthews the last time they played the Vikes on December 2nd – and Adrian Peterson racked up 210 yards and a long touchdown that day. Wilson’s getting over a knee injury, and Worthy is coming off a bad hamstring.

Coach Mike McCarthy says he’s especially curious to see how Wilson performs during a full-tilt padded practice today. Matthews has been back for two weeks after a hamstring injury – and in those games, the Packers gave up less than 100 yards on the ground to both Tennessee and Chicago.

In the four games before that, Green Bay gave up 100 rushing yards each time without Matthews or Wilson being available. Also, the Packers said defensive back Charles Woodson will not play on Sunday because team doctors are still not satisfied with how his broken collarbone is recovering. Woodson has practiced for the last four weeks, and McCarthy knows the veteran defender is disappointed that he won’t play against the Vikes.

It’s a big game. If the Packers win, they’ll get a first-round bye in the playoffs. If they lose, there’s a good chance that Green Bay will host Minnesota on Wild Card Weekend.
