WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau officials will take another look at a proposed soccer complex at the former Holtz Krause Landfill today.
The city parks committee last met in December to go over a possible purchase of the property but did not vote to purchase the property. They did ask the city to take a look at the property's potential and come back with more information.
The county's parks commission voted last week to move forward with the process of buying the property. The committee that currently controls the cleanup of the property is hoping to sell it to either Wausau or the County after they build it.
Administrator Brad Karger told the county commission last week that they wanted to make sure Wausau had the first shot at purchasing the site, but that the mayor told him the city wasn't interested. Committee member Ed Gale says the Mayor doesn't have that right, and that the city's parks commission hasn't finished discussing the offer. Mayor Tipple did not respond for a request for comment.
The committee will go into closed session tonight to discuss the matter starting at 5:30.
