WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau is poised to sign a developer's agreement that would help a Massachusetts technology firm grow its business here.
The City Council will vote next week on the agreement approved Tuesday night by the economic development committee and finance committee.
The deal provides a $200,000 grant over the next five years to help Collaborative Consulting establish its software development and testing center in the city. Part of the grant can be forgiven if Collaborative meets the terms of the developer's agreement, which include creating up to 200 jobs.
The agreement also provides other incentives that will help company employees buy homes in the city. It is part of a package of $2.7 million in state tax credits and job training credits.
The company began training 12 employees last week in temporary office space in the Dudley Tower. The agreement requires the firm to stay in the tower for five years and company officials say they are close to finalizing a lease agreement with building managers.
