HEWETT, Wis (WSAU) There was a fire last night at the old Marathon County schoolhouse on Landing Road in Hewitt.

The fire was reported around 9:30 last night, and there was heavy smoke coming from the structure when firefighters arrived. No one was inside the building at the time, and there were no injuries.

The building suffered significant damage. The cause of the fire isn’t known.
