JANESVILLE, Wisc (WRN) A 42-year-old Janesville man’s suicide in front of congressman Paul Ryan’s downtown office may have been foretold. Police chief David Moore says Mark Kromrey had sent a letter to the congressman in August 2010. “In that letter, Mr. Kromrey indicated that he may commit suicide in the area of the congressman’s office,” says Moore. “Mr. Kromrey did not threaten congressman Ryan, and he told officers that he was not mad or had any hostile feelings toward congressman Ryan.”

Moore says in that 2010 contact, Kromrey was upset about the progress of a federal lawsuit he had filed on behalf of a movie actress he had discovered on line. Kromrey says Ryan’s office contacted U.S. Capitol Police in an effort to get help for Kromrey, and that Janesville police also took “appropriate action” to get him help. They had no further contact with Kromrey, until he was found Tuesday, mortally wounded from a gun shot.
