Marinette man to run as Democrat for Lt. Governor

by

MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ) - A contracted driver from Marinette said Monday he would run as a Democrat for lieutenant governor in the expected recall election. Bruce Berman is the third possible opponent for GOP Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch. Berman says the office needs somebody from outside the Madison and Milwaukee areas. State fire-fighters’ union chief Mahlon Mitchell of Madison is running, along with Milwaukee private investigator Ira Robins. The 47-year-old Berman ran for the state Assembly in 2004, and lost to former GOP Speaker John Gard. This is Berman’s first try for statewide office. Recall petitions are still in the process of being certified. Barring legal action, a primary is expected May eighth – and the general recall election between the Democratic winner and Kleefisch is tentatively set for June fifth.
