MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) It appears that Milwaukee Brewers’ reliever Jose Veras is on the way out. M-L-B-Dot-Com says the Brewers have told Veras they’ll release him outright from the 40-man roster. The right-hander must clear waivers for that to happen – and his agent, Bryce Dixon, tells M-L-B-Dot-Com that Veras will become a free agent if he’s cleared.
Veras is up for salary arbitration this winter – and M-L-B Trade Rumors says he can expect a 600-thousand-dollar raise to around two-point-six-million for next season.
Veras was traded from Pittsburgh a year ago, in a deal that sent Casey McGehee to the Pirates. He went 5-and-4 this year with a three-point-six-three E-R-A, with 40 walks and 79 strikeouts in 67 innings.
