WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - Imagine walking across Europe in about thirty seconds. That’s what a group of students at Horace Mann Middle School in Wausau can do in Geography class Friday. They are working with a twenty-five square foot map that covers the entire classroom floor.
Horace Mann teacher Joe Pachel says this map is on loan from National Geographic. National Geographic’s Giant Traveling Maps tour schools all over the country. The students learn about map reading, the countries and their cultures. It also gives them a better understanding of where key cities and points of interest are located. The maps come with lesson plans and geography games.
The map will be in Wausau Friday before it moves on to a geography teacher conference in DePere, Wisconsin.
