NEILLSVILLE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A sex offender who has been in prison for 20-years is about to be paroled in Neillsville. 52-year-old Mark Davis is scheduled to be released on Tuesday. He’ll be living on Miller Avenue.
Davis was convicted of third-degree sexual assault in the late 1990s. Police said in the notice that the victim was an elderly female. Davis is classified as “having the potential to re-offend.”
The Neillsville Police Department also posted the notice of Davis’ release on their Facebook page.
Two of his neighbors are elderly women who are outraged over his placement. “I understand the man paid his time, but why are they putting him in a position where it looks like they’re setting him up for failure,” said Carol Bennett told WAOW NewsLine Nine. She said, “I’m scared.”
“I just don’t want him here at all. Would I give him a chance? No,” said Kathy Rahn, who lives across the street. “I don’t feel safe.”
Davis will be monitored once he’s released. He will also be subject to drug and alcohol monitoring, and is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with children. Davis will also have to register his address for the rest of his life under Wisconsin’s sex offender law.
