WESTON, Wisc (WSAU) Weston leaders say the voters have sent a mixed message on re-starting bus service.
A referendum earlier this year called for the village to re-start bus service between Wausau and Weston after the route was scrapped a year ago. But a second referendum on how to pay for it was defeated by about 700 votes on Tuesday night. Voters also said no to a property tax increase to cover the village's operating deficit.
Village leaders say their only choice is to make cuts elsewhere in their budget. The village board holds a finance meeting on Monday night to discuss where to cut.
