OWEN, Wisc (WSAU) The resignation of Owen's police chief came, in part, because of allegations of off-duty misconduct. Marshfield police investigated Randall Poirier in September. Owen officials and Marshfield PD are not releasing any details about the case. Charges were not filed.
A news release from Owen town officials says Poirier cooperated with the investigation, and it did not lead to significant evidence of wrongdoing.
Poirier had been on leave for two weeks before submitting his resignation to the city council. It's not clear how long it will take to hire his replacement. The department consists of a chief, a full-time, and a part-time officer.
