SUSSEX, WI (WTAQ) - A 17-year-old former student at Sussex Hamilton High School pleaded no contest Thursday morning to two felony sex charges in the molesting of a six-year-old relative.

Daniel Koepke struck a plea deal in which he was convicted of incest, and letting a child see sexually-explicit materials. Felony counts of child sexual abuse and exposure were dropped.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced January 24th.

The crimes occurred in Washington County, just to the north of Sussex. The Sussex Sun said Hamilton high school officials did not know about the case until earlier this month – and neither did a Waukesha County sheriff’s satellite office in Sussex.

It was not known how the lack of communication occurred – but sheriff’s officials are working to improve in that area.

Hamilton officials said Koepke was not suspended or expelled – but he’s no longer attending school after the district reached a cooperative agreement with Koepke’s family a week ago.
