ABBOTSFORD, WI (WSAU) -  An Abbotsford woman is dead after a collision on Highway 29 late Thursday morning. Marathon County Lieutenant Randy Albert says both the woman and a semi truck were traveling eastbound near Chestnut Road when the crash occurred at 10:32 a.m. He says a witness saw the crash happen.  "She pulled to the right side of the road, as if she was going to turn right." "For whatever reason, she decides to turn left into a paved access road that separates eastbound and westbound 29, and the semi impacted her in the driver's side door."

The 80-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Albert says the truck driver was not seriously hurt. Both vehicles had severe damage and had to be towed.

The woman’s name will be released after 10:00 a.m. Friday so that family members can be notified first.

Wisconsin State Patrol and the Colby Fire Department assisted the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department at the crash scene.
