Coaches Name High School Football POY

by

MADISON, Wi (WSAU) Running back Mason Dixon of Walworth Big Foot has been named the state high school football offensive player-of-the-year by the coaches association. And defensive end Alec James of Brookfield East was selected as the defensive player-of-the-year.

Dixon rushed for 22-hundred-43 yards in his senior year, with 42 touchdowns. That includes last night’s state Division-Four title game, which Big Foot lost to Somerset by two points. James, a Wisconsin Badger recruit, had 14 sacks during the regular season of his senior year. He had 22-and-a-half tackles for losses, four forced fumbles, two pass break-ups, and a blocked kick. James led Brookfield East to a 10-and-1 season and the third round of the state playoffs.

Also, the coaches’ association named Paul Martin of Waunakee and Shawn O’Laughlin of Fond du Lac Springs as the assistant coaches of the year. The coach-of-the-year will not be announced until after the state finals – which wrap up today with title games in the top three divisions.
