WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - The Medical College of Wisconsin has chosen Wausau as the primary site for expansion in central Wisconsin. Their Board of Trustees voted Friday to pursue locating classrooms, laboratories, and clinical simulation centers at a combination of sites. These sites include the Liberty Mutual Insurance building #1, University of Wisconsin Marathon County, and Northcentral Technical College. Pipeline programs to prepare undergraduate students for medical school would be developed with UW – Stevens Point, UW – Marathon County, UW – Marshfield/Wood County, Northcentral Technical College, and possibly other academic institutions. There would also be some activities in Marshfield.
Medical College of Wisconsin is also expanding in the Green Bay area. MCW will begin negotiations with St. Norbert College in DePere for the medical education program’s classrooms, offices, and learning laboratories. Green Bay area medical students also would have a clinical simulation center at Bellin College in Green Bay.
