SPRING VALLEY, WI (WTAQ) - A nine-year-old western Wisconsin boy is home from the hospital, after his 11-year-old brother accidentally shot him in the leg.

It happened on Saturday at a home in Spring Valley where the boys were visiting their father.

Pierce County authorities said the 11-year-old found a .357-handgun in a cabinet – and he was showing his younger brother how to load it when the weapon accidentally went off.

The youngster was first taken to a hospital in Menomonie, and then to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where he was released Monday.
