MADISON, WI (WSAU) The Wisconsin women scored only six points in the final nine minutes last night, as they lost at Virginia Tech 47-to-38 in their Big Ten-A-C-C Challenge. The Badgers were up by nine with 11:22 to play. But the Hokies then scored 11 unanswered points, as Wisconsin made a dismal 8-of-29 shots in the second half.

Virginia Tech outshot the Badgers 35-to-30 percent for the game, and the Hokies had a 36-30 rebounding edge. The 38 points were a season low for Wisconsin.

Morgan Paige scored 12, as the Badgers fell to 3-and-3 on the young season. Monet Tellier led all scorers with 17. She hit all nine of her free throws, as Virginia Tech improved to 3-and-2.

The Badgers played without their second-leading scorer, Taylor Wurtz. She did not make the trip due to a back injury. Wisconsin will host Alabama on Saturday. The Marquette women improved to 3-and-2 last night, with a 77-74 overtime victory at South Dakota State. The Golden Eagles led by eight at the half, but the Jackrabbits could have won the game had they not missed a three-point attempt at the end of regulation.

Marquette went up by six in the first three minutes of the overtime period, and never looked back. The Eagles outshot South Dakota State 45-to-40-percent, with a 38-33 rebounding advantage.

Arlesia Morse led Marquette with 23 points. Ashley Eide scored 21 for South Dakota State, which fell to 3-and-4. Marquette improved to 3-and-2, and will host Fordham on Saturday.

Tonight, the Marquette men play at Florida in their Big East-S-E-C Challenge. And the U-W Milwaukee women are at Illinois State. -11/29-
