Charges have been filed against the 18-year-old who allegedly made text threats against a Wausau West female student Friday. Marcos Garza appeared before Judge Greg Grau this afternoon, where a high cash bond was set . Prosecutor Kala Strawn was pleased with the bond in light of how serious the charges are.
Garza is charged with Threatening to injure by use of a dangerous weapon, which is a felony that could send him to prison for six years. He is also charged with a related count of using a computer message to threaten or harm with a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Strawn says more charges are possible after prosecutors review investigative reports.Garza is accused of sending multiple threatening text messages to a 17-year-old Wausau West student whom he had been intimately involved with over the past couple of years. The threats caused police and school officials to lock down Wausau West and some nearby schools Friday as a safety precaution until Garza could be apprehended.
Garza’s preliminary hearing is set for 9am October 17th.
