MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Marshfield Police are asking for a total of fourteen charges against a 23-year-old suspect that allegedly tried to kill his pregnant girlfriend September 29th. Police say Tyler Scott Ress tried to kill Carrie Lynn Mayhone by assaulting and strangling her while confining her. Ress is also accused of punching Mayhone in the abdomen in an attempt to harm the unborn baby. Investigators say he also poured gasoline on her threatening to burn her to death.
Marshfield Police are asking the Wood County District Attorney to charge Ress with felony counts of stangulation, attempted abortion, 1st degree reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment. Misdemeanor charges include negligent handling of burning materials, battery, disorderly conduct, and violating a no-contact order with the victim. Ress will also face several drug related charges as a repeat offender.
Ress is presently jailed on a probation hold. Mayhone was examined after the violent domestic incident and is recovering from her injuries.
